About Matt Zimmerman
Matt Zimmerman is a singer/songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland whose music combines driving acoustic/piano based rock with heartfelt lyrical content. Above all else, the search to find answers to some of life's bigger questions seems to resonate throughout his music. There is an underlying energy of calm and healing peace, with a strong emphasis on the exploration of our own consciousness.
"The Flood Trust" project grew out of a desire to give thanks for all the love, support, and friendship so many people have bestowed upon Matt throughout his journey thus far. The CD's cover art, "Ascending Cradle," represents the natural process of personal growth and discovery, and how suffering can be a gift by which we learn about the true nature of being.
Even in the very worst of times, even when the flood waters rise and sweep away all the things that made you who you are, there is something more of you that can never be taken; something eternal and beyond time. The Flood Trust is that light, that love connecting each of us, beyond time or possessions.
A message from the artist:
My name is Matt Zimmerman. I have been writing and recording music for a long time. This is my most recent project, an effort to strip down my music to its bare elements.
These songs were composed and recorded during a period of time in my life when I chose to make some fundamental changes, deal with addiction problems, and most importantly, to become honest with myself.
Serious stuff? Yes. But I think the music reflects an essence of the sense of hope, lightness, transition, and positive change I began to experience at the time.
The title refers to an inexplicable sense of hope that kept me moving forward on my path, many times to my surprise, and helped me push past a difficult part of my life. The 'flood' - my seemingly endless torrent of fears and problems mounting around me, the 'trust' - a self-perpetuating, underlying feeling that I just might push through, hence, The Flood Trust.
I hope you enjoy. Remember to breathe!

News and Reviews
'The Flood Trust' seems to bridge a gap between suffering and enlightenment. The music is uplifting and positive, a pleasant and reassuring oasis in the desert of negative and transparent qualities which comprise much of today's music. It is rich and multi-layered, ranging from soft acoustic textures to driving, melodic piano-based harmonies. Definitely worth a listen.
