Some Nice Things People Have Said
Lee's spirit is gentle, but his message is powerful. Like truth in any form, the truth he communicates is 'sharper than a two-edged sword,' yet at the same time, it heals the broken spirit.
- Gloria Gaither
Lyricist, Author, and Speaker
Lee writes good songs and sings them well. If you ask him to sing, you'll meet a delightful person, who'll take you beyond the superficial idioms of much 'Christian music.' You'll be entertained, delighted, and moved.
- The Reverend Dr. Brian A. Wren
Theologian and Hymn Writer
About Lee Domann
Lee Domann is an award-winning songwriter, storyteller, and modern-day troubadour living in Nashville, Tennessee. His music has been recorded by a variety of artists including Kathy Mattea, Jake Hess, The Gold City Quartet, The Peasall Sisters, Karen Peck, The Bishops, and Riders In the Sky. His songs have received extensive airplay and have appeared on the charts of Billboard Magazine.
Lee has recorded four solo albums of his own songs. His music will make you laugh, cry, cheer, remember, and know.
Howard Gray, a true story about "the kid nobody liked" in school, is widely used at many church camps, educational workshops, and concerts by other musicians. Lee was invited to sing it at Bill and Gloria Gaither's 2001 Praise Gathering in Indianapolis, Indiana. The song also appears on The Bishops' album, Kentucky Bluegrass, which received a Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association.
Death Ain't No Big Deal was sung by recording artist Jake Hess (Elvis Presley's favorite singer) at Tammy Wynette's funeral, in accordance with her request.
Jesus Laughing, the current single by Mark Lowry (of the Gaither Homecoming Group) is climbing the Singing News Southern Gospel Chart (#23).
The graduating class at an upstate New York High School requested Howard Gray to be their commencement speaker. They had heard Lee's song while in second grade and voted it the most significant learning experience in their twelve years together.
Lee has been in solo ministry since 1991, combining music with humor and storytelling. The focus of Lee's ministry is to share the good news of God's love, and to affirm the worth of each person as one of God's Children. His wit, humor, and vulnerability forge a deep connection with the listener. Your stories and his merge and are heard as if for the first time.
Lee's style is reminiscent of Garrison Keillor, of National Public Radio's The Prairie Home Companion. One pastor calls him "Garrison with Guitar." Lee's presence and style reflect his varied roots: the open skies and often lonely spaces of his home state, Kansas; the journey of the spirit leading to Nashville, TN, and his "southern-by-adoption" status; as well as the musical roots of Celtic, country, and gospel traditions.
During the past 19 years, Lee has performed at more than 1,000 churches, colleges and special events in the United States, Canada, and Germany. He is currently working on a full-length feature screenplay "Sad Song For Sale" (based on the Howard Gray story) in cooperation with a local Nashville independent filmmaker.
His desire to live in faith and trust as he seeks to share his gifts of music and drama enables Lee to respond to most booking requests of churches, colleges, and other organizations.
