About Brad Nye
Brad Nye has traveled many different roads in his thirty-year love affair with music. The son of a minister, Brad grew up singing and playing in the church.
After two years of junior college, majoring in music, Brad moved to Hollywood, California to attend The Musicians Institute of Technology. While there, he met Eddie Van Halen and was hired as assistant tour manager for the band's 1983-84 tour. Brad continued in production the following year, working for Hall & Oates in New York City.
In 1986, Brad moved home to Chicago to start his own rock band, “Dick Holliday and the Bamboo Gang”. They soon became Chicago’s #1 party band, as voted by the Chicago Tribune, playing 200 shows a year. This included a sponsorship with a major brewing company and the party rolled on!
Brad pursued this path for six years with big plans to “make it." One of Brad’s favorite quotes is, “you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans."
Life began to crumble as his party attitude turned to addiction and Brad found himself kneeling, asking for forgiveness and healing.
Today, God has put a new song in Brad’s heart. Songs of hope, sorrow and love. Humbled Man reflects God’s ever present invitation to come home and rest in a life full of freedom and joy. Listen to the humbling process that has brought one man back into the sunlight!
