About Steve Smith
Steve Smith is a twenty-five year veteran of the comedy circuit, and most importantly, an eighteen-year member of three 12-step programs (He needs them all!). He is currently performing to rave reviews and standing ovations at A.A., N.A. & C.A. Conventions world-wide.
Born and raised in Seattle, Steve got his show business feet wet at a very early age. By the time Steve was nine he had been in a movie and was a regular on local television. Not sure if he was getting all this work because he was funny or just funny looking he continued his acting throughout college.
Steve attended Evergreen State College in Washington, a liberal arts school where he majored in theatre. The college was so liberal that it didn’t give grades, just evaluations. (Still, to this day, he has no idea what his grade point was.) During his college days, Steve caught the comedy bug.
After touring the Northwest and Canada for a few years, Steve decided to leave Seattle (ok, he was asked) for the bright lights of Los Angeles. He knew if he stayed in Seattle he would either start to grow roots or play grunge.
After spending less then a year in Los Angeles, Steve was tragically killed. First by Freddy Kruger in the movie Nightmare On Elm Street 2. Then he got a lead role in the movie Slaughterhouse Rock. All while compiling over sixty television appearances as a stand-up comic.
It was only a matter of time before he needed to branch out even further as a performer. He started the critically acclaimed improvisational group The Bargain Basement Players (who later changed their name to An Unpleasant Smell), which played for three years at the Santa Monica Improv.
He also landed a starring role in the movie Nice Guys. Steve's most recent stand-up comedy journeys have taken him around world - - from Honduras to Japan to Cuba to Korea to the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Scotland.
News and Reviews
When Steve came to kick off our weekend with his unique brand of comedy, not only did he bring the house down but each year since, attendees keep asking when he's coming back. I have been to a lot of Steve's comedy shows and I have laughed just as hard at the last show I attended as I did the first time I saw him.
