About Tom Acousti
First as a listener, then as a songwriter, and now as a performing teacher, the engine of Tom Acousti’s life has always been fueled by the power of song.
He honed his one-of-a-kind craft during the 1990s, delivering more than 600 campus concerts throughout the United States. Relying on piano, guitar, and a captivating vocal style, Acousti responded to open-minded college audiences by intensely embracing the autobiographical, confessional tradition of the performing songwriter.
Answering yes to seemingly random opportunities, Tom also brought his challenging and sometimes esoteric style to such unlikely pop forums as the television show Star Search (seven time winner) and the stage musical, Fame, (creator of a lead role) currently running in NYC.
Since those days, Acousti has studied and taught songwriting, produced and recorded several albums, and written and produced music for film.
After leading him to live in New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville, his love of songs continues now back in his hometown, Portland, Maine, where Tom is a pioneer in creating new innovative arts-in-education programs.
His "Tunes & Technology" program combines Acousti’s talents in songwriting and music production experience and applies it to working with students. Tom’s "SongShop Workshops" bring it to a higher lever and challenges the adult songwriter to push beyond linear songwriting. This has often led to private teaching and producing/recording a student’s own album.
Acousti also teaches songwriting and music production as an Artist-in-Residence at Portland Arts and Technology High School and with the Foothills Arts Center.
Recently, in writing and producing the topical, two volume CD, Bloom, Acousti dramatically returned to his melodic acoustic roots, blurring the lines between life and art. Bloom (Volume I) has been made available as a free gift to hundreds by way of the ‘Buy One, Give Two Free’ program sharing the music in the name of the late Army Sgt. Kenneth R. Hobson II. Look for Volume 2, The Canyon to be released soon.
Most recently, Acousti is back to the college stages with "The Power of Song," a new revolutionary program - a hybrid of musical performance, lecture, and free student discussion.

Bloom. Bloom is correct. Tom Acousti's newest release, Bloom (Everything is Everything Volume 1) is one hell of a CD. Utilizing pop and folk rock in this eleven-track retail ready CD, the CD is packed with driving rhythms, hidden drumbeats and a voice that fits amongst the music, not on top of it. We've been waiting for a CD like this � and Tom Acousti has brought it. Its title track, Bloom Where You're Planted is a 4:14 (time) track that combines the piano, acoustic guitar, drum set and his voice � an instrument all to his own.
