About The Serenity Songs Project

The Serenity Songs Project is a unique collection of songs crafted around the principles of the twelve-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and its many related organizations. The CD is recorded in a variety of musical styles from pop, to R&B and country.

The recording, like most twelve-step meetings, begins with The Serenity Prayer, which has been crafted into a song, and the album continues to unfold around other steps.

Many of the lyrical phrases found in the twelve-steps and used in all the various programs have been paraphrased in the songs on this recording. Someone not familiar with the twelve-steps will enjoy the songs just for their positive messages and good music, but will not recognize little phrases or meanings. However, people familiar with the program will say, "Hey that's the Fourth Step," and it will mean that much more to them.

The lyrics are not didactic or preachy; they tug at the heart. Because they focus on the principles of each step, persons in any of the twelve-step programs will relate to the songs, no matter what their addiction or compulsive behavior might be.

Since its earliest beginnings CQK Records & Music has sought to discern and discover the most sensitive areas of human need, and then to write songs and create products that will speak to those needs with emotional relevance, positive messages and spiritual truth. Recovering lyricist and producer, Mary Dawson, enlisted the help of composer/arranger, Bruce Greer, and the artists on the CD, to bring her songs to life.
