Some Nice Things People Have Said

Nice, fresh music. The album started out with a Mellencamp blues feel, then it followed through with a Floyd/Gospel feel. Nice vocals, nice guitars. All-in-all, really good stuff.

About Mark Elder & Friends

Mark Elder has been in recovery over nine years now. Elder has been a musician and songwriter a good portion of his adult life.

Last year, a close friend of his who had gotten sober about the same time as Elder, "went back out." In order to come to terms with this, Elder wrote what ended up being the first song on Just For Today a song about the first of the twelve steps called "Dancing With His Demons." One step leads to another and one song led to another as well. A year later, Elder had written and recorded this collection of twelve songs, one for each of the twelve steps of recovery.

Elder brought Denis Gale into the project because he loves his rock-sounding voice. He also loves contrast and Gale's voice contrasts well with Faith Bashore, a singer that Elder had been working with for a couple of years. Since the completion of Just For Today, the three of them have continued working on projects that they hope to release in the near future.

Elder intentionally tried to not limit himself to a particular style of music, but you'll notice some rock, reggae and R&B mixed in with a little experience, strength, and hope.

News and Reviews

Music is an extremely powerful tool with the power to bless or curse its audience. Mark Elder's CD "Just for Today, a Journey in Recovery" will truly bless the heart, soul and spirit of any listener. The Journey of the twelve steps as experienced, written and performed by Mark Elder, along with the exceptional talent of Faith Bashore, Denis Gale and Danny Hare make this CD one of conviction, compassion and integrity.

The words and music are much more than ordinary; they are, in fact, extraordinary as they are the truth of what many of us in recovery have experienced, are experiencing or will experience while moving through the healing process of applying and implementing the twelve steps.

There is a passion displayed here in this project that moves you beyond entertainment to inner-searching.

While listening to "Just for Today," I was able to reflect upon my own "Journey in Recovery" from "Dancing with His Demons" to learning "Humility" to experiencing, the beauty and re-birth of "A New Days Dawn." What a powerful testimony of the wonders of recovery and the gifts of the twelve steps.

There are some things in life no one should miss out on. The words and music of recovery recording artist Mark Elder is most definitely amongst these things. His CD "Just for Today" a journey in recovery is the proof.

"Just For Today" is an amazing piece of work! . . . the whole album is very strong with some standouts like "Drop The Rock," "Humility," "I'm Sorry Meant Nothing Anymore," "Dancing With His Demons" - - "Just For Today" hooked me on one hearing and I can't get it out of my mind. I'll stop there, otherwise I'll just end up listing all twelve songs.
